The society meets every third Monday of the month at 7.30pm in the Alexandra Hall, Llangammarch. 

Meetings look at local history and topics of interest.

Monday 21st May – Powys War memorials Project with Nathan Davies

Powys County Council secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Cadw and the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority for the Powys War Memorials Project. This is a four year project (2015-2019) to commemorate the centenary of World War 1.

 Nathan has been managing the project since it started in October 2015. He is going to tell us about some of the project’s successes, achievements and indeed challenges over the last couple of years. He will also fill us in about possible ways that we might like to be benefit from or contribute to the project.

 

Weekend June 30th/July 1st – 150th celebration of Heart of Wales line

A weekend of celebrations along the whole of the HoW Line. Crafts, teas, demonstrations in The Institute, hopefully also events in Alexandra Hall.

 

Saturday September 22nd – Famous Writers linked to Llangammarch.

A day with Hanes Brycheiniog and other history societies. This day is about John Penry, Theophilus Evans, Theophilus Jones (maybe also mentioning John Price Beulah and other renowned writers who were born in Llangammarch)
