Jubilee Cottage ( site of Village garden )
This house does not appear
in the census under this name.. Local people remember the last resident of this property who was
Miss Katie Phillips. She was the daughter of the Butcher who lived at
Churchill House and appears in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. It is said that
her cousin's husband was Principal Jones of Swansea College – he bought Jubilee cottage and gave it to Katie.
The end of the house fell down one morning in the late 1970s as the children
were all going to school. The house had to be demolished and Katie gave the
ground to the village to use as a garden.
